Apps Linux+ Guide to Linux Certification?

So, after my dad passed we went through all of his things and i found this book. it is all about linux programming and i want to know if this would be a good bookto read to start learning some coding or anything to start me off in developing?

from wut ive read it is alot of things that have to do with everything ive learned so far from xda and android forums

CompTIA made changes to the Linux + certification last year, so although the book might not be current for the test if published prior to that, it would still be a valuable reference.

As for software development, that would be another avenue. if you are looking to develop for phones, Java would probably be the way to go.
 
@ rasmith thank u that was very helpful ill look into finding a java book or something. I think this might be a new version of the book but i havent checked the copy right year yet
