Linux Tethering: Proxoid

Well-Known Member
I tried using pdanet in wine.

The program was compatible but i couldnt figure how to get wine to recognise that my phone had been plugged in.

Anyway, a quick google leads me to proxoid

i have instructions to install it, but does anyone use this?

And is it like pdanet in the sense it will use my unlimited data plan on my hero?

Thanks,

Bump - I've got PDAnet working on my Win XP but I also need it for Linux as my netbook is running linux, I really don't want to have to buy another copy of Windows 7

I saw proxoid but haven't tried it yet.

The other option is to root your phone and use wifi-tether. I have wifi-tether working quite nicely with my netbook running linux.

I have tried to use the proxoid. I have and HTC Droid Eris and Windows Vista on my PC. I am no tech wizard and cannot get the file unzipped or anything. To me it is getting frustrating and a waste of time trying all these different apps. I am getting closer to regreting getting this phone already since it runs slow and now more since nothing is simple enough for anybody to use. Any tips tho on how to get this all installed and running because I don't understand the instructions for my life.
