Google Listen is the best thing to happen to podcasting since "oh lets say, wow" since podcasting was invented. This is the way Podcasting was meant to be consumed. If you've been a listener since early in podcasting days then you can appreciate a seamless and always with you and always checking podcatcher. If you are new to listening to podcasts then you'll love the ease in finding and listening to your first podcast and the ease to subscribe and listen again and again. For everyone Google Listen is a Simple Search and Player combination that quickly becomes the second most used thing you listen to everyday on your phone (assuming your first thing is your family and friends phone calls, oh no, well then this is your newest best friend).
Glowing recommendation aside: here's some of the best features of Google Listen:
- Free
- Quick search (a la Google) for Podcast topics or news of interest
- Streams instantly an/or downloads when at home and plugged in
- Provides a super fast (and interesting) option to see what others are searching for in terms of Podcasts
- On screen simple list of your queued podcast episodes side by side with others from your subscriptions you might want to also listen to
Downsides/Desired new Features:
- Can't send/share favorite podcast episodes to others
- Some defects (this is listed as Beta ware), e.g. if you play past the point that something has streamed it starts over and then never plays to the end.
- Cant import lists of podcasts (nice for those of us with Subscription lists in a different player but moving to this)
