I'm looking at the X10 as my next phone, but the Nexus Ones' live wallpapers are a big draw for me. Out of interest, should the X10 (as SE promise) get an update to Android 2.0/1 should this include Live Wallpapers?
It depends. The manufacturer can put it in and the carrier takes it out, or the manufacturer can decide it won't work well with the phone and take it out themselves. This is what everyone is wondering with the pending Droid and Droid Eris updates - that it's at this point up to the carrier (Verizon in this case) to put it in or take it out, and the carrier isn't talking.
Regardless of any official updates, I think it's fairly likely that developer ROMs will have these features. They have a ROM with live wallpapers for the Hero now, its just not completely functional yet.
I'm running BB 2.1 with live wallpapers. They work great on the Droid at 1Ghz. Truth be told though, some of the "interactive" features of the wallpapers are missing. Not sure how well they would work with phones with lower end processors though...
