Loading a new OS on a rooted device

Hello all,

I'm rather new to the whole rooting process. However, I rooted my Ellipsis 7 today in the hopes of getting Android Lollipop on it (it was stuck with KitKat and wouldn't find the update). I'm struggling to find where I can download the Lollipop OS though. Android's website has a nice page of features, but no download links. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site! :)

Installing a different version of Android yourself requires putting whats called a custom ROM onto your phone/tablet. The custom ROM has to be made specifically for your device, unfortunately you can't simply download any version of Android.

Ellipsis root forum, doesn't look like there are custom ROMs yet:

More info:

The two main advantages of rooting a phone are being able to put a custom ROM on the phone and the ability to install apps that require root.

Two downsides - there is a small chance you can brick the phone, and if it's newer you may void the warranty.

The root process is different for every phone, so follow instructions for your specific device. Here is more information about rooting:
