I'm not trying to talk down to you or anything, but why would you want this? I just have a difficult time trying to understand why anyone would want to know where someone else is at all times or why someone would want to let others know where they are at all times.
Again, I'm not criticizing. I'm just trying to understand why people want this. I can see how this would be valuable for a parent looking for their child.

regression said:The best I have come up with is InstaMapper, but it requires the GPS to be running all the time. This is OK when I'm in the car since I can leave my phone on the car charger, but if it isn't plugged in, the battery would drain pretty quickly.
How frequently do you update my phone's location on the web site?
By default, your phone tries to transmit location data to InstaMapper every 5 seconds if you are moving 20 mph or faster and if someone is currently tracking you online. If you are not moving, the minimum update rate is 60 seconds. If are not being tracked online, the minimum update interval is 30 seconds.
Is my phone being tracked all the time?
Your phone sends tracking data only when our application is running. On the iPhone, the software must stay in the foreground. Other phones allow the software to run in the background.
What information does my phone transmit to InstaMapper?
The data sent to InstaMapper includes location (latitude, longitude, speed, etc.), a timestamp, and a randomly assigned id. We do not transmit your phone number or any other personally identifiable information.
Google Latitude.
It's "part" of Maps.
Thanks Fadelight! I haven't really thought of the business application of Latitude. I guess I was thinking more in terms of jealous significant others keeping tabs on each other.
I don't plan on using it, but at least now I can understand why other people might.
Again, as per my first post... Wavesecure allows remote activation. Most likely not what he is looking for. It's also a bit of a pain in the butt to casually track people with it.Another app you may consider is wavesecure.
Take a look at Glympse
Glympse for Android - Social
Glympse - Share Your Where
In summary, it allows you to share your location for a certain time ( up to 4 hours I think ). I think it is really to share your location to a user on a regular computer (via webpage you pull up).
I don't know if this exactly matches what you are looking for, but I think it is pretty neat. My problem is I can't get my wife to be willing to sit at the computer and watch the screen so I can play with my new apps on my Droid.
I just played a little with Glympse. It looks like you have to manually send out your location for it to update on the recipient's computer, correct?
Actually no. You are basically having Glympse send out a web-link that the person visits. When they visit that link they see your location (automatically updated) for as long as you allowed (up to 4 hours I think).
If I recall it has a few other nifty features:
1) Shows your speed
2) Shows estimated time of arrival if you put in a destination
3) In addition to GPS, it can use Skyhook wireless which is not as accurate as GPS but still pretty neat
