Hi, I am running Lollipop with my sim card removed, behind a proxy and a VPN with firewall rules to prevent potential DNS leaks. I tether and share my PC's network connection with my phone. My phone is rooted. I have "Location" turned off in my android settings. I have tried running an app that supposedly tells you your location, but it took me to the "Location" settings — wanting me to enable it. So I have a question: is it possible for an app (without root privileges) to determine my location via GPS even if I have "Location" turned off? My guess is no and I hope that's correct.
