Lock Down Android to Just my app running

Hi,

My first post on this forum which I find myself coming back to over and over.

I intend to develop an app to display extra information for an exhibition of artifacts.
The app will run on an android tablet and I would like a way to stop users exiting my app to the home scree or getting out of my app.

I have seen something similar done with kid apps where you have to press a specific key combination to exit, even better would be a pin or password to exit the app.

Is this possible?

Or would another option be to lock down the whole os so only my applicatino can be run?
