Lock screen button not working unable to power on phone

The lock screen button on my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 is not working. My phone's battery ran out and the phone shut down. Now that I am charging it, it just shows the battery image on the screen and I am unable to switch the phone on as it requires to use the lock screen button. Is there another way of switching on my phone? Help please :)

Samsung phones have a removable battery. Pop the battery out for 20 seconds, then pop back in and power on.
