Help Lock Screen Lights Up Randomly

FIRST TIME ANDROID OWNER! I noticed my lock screen lights up and then turns off randomly throughout the day and I'm not sure why? Also, I woke up this morning and my screen was on..but I KNOW I turned it off last night while it charged. I heard it could be the "battery charged notification"? How do I disable that? THANKS!
 
Mine, too. Noticed it today. Not sure what it is yet. I suspect maybe incoming texts or emails, or something trying to sync maybe. Not sure.
 
I think I (may have) figured it out. Under Settings/Display, I turned on that "smart stay" setting, where it senses you in front of it. I'm guessing that's it. I'm gonna try turning it off.
 
I read in another forum that it could be from the screen mode set as "adaptive display". I switched it to "amoled cinema" just now, hope it works.
