Did you disable the "skip lock screen" option so that the notifications are actually displayed?
If so, you should be able to adjust whether or not the contents of a notification appear on the lock screen on a per-app basis. Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > [App name] > Notifications, then tap one of the notification channels > Advanced > Lock screen.

Below given two settings for Pixel 4 lock screen notification settings.
1st: Hide lock screen notifications
Settings > Apps & notifications > Notifications > Lock screen > Notifications on lock screen
2nd: Individually hide app notifications Pixel 4 from lock screen
Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Select app from list > Chats
Here you can enable or disable group notifications or message notifications in your Pixel and other android devices.
