Lock Screen

How do I disable the screen lock and just have the pattern lock or code lock? I hate having to type in a code and still have to do the slider. Especially, if I have music playing. I have to hit unlock, then type in a code, then do the slider.

Anyway to cut down on all that? Is there a Widget Locker or something that can do that?

There are only two steps that I am aware of (not three as you are describing). First comes the slider, then comes the pin or pattern. After that, my phone unlocks without any additional work, and I can just use it.

Disabling the screen lock does not disable the slider, it only removes the pin or pattern. This way, you can do the slider then get right to work. The slider is there for in case something in your pocket bumps the power button, that way you don't have to worry about random things happening because something bumps the screen. It is also a safeguard for when you're holding it and switch on the screen and you're not paying any attention to your phone -- it encourages you to pay attention to what you're doing on the phone.

If that is what you want to do, go to Settings -> Location & Security -> Change Screen Lock -> Enter pin or pattern -> choose None -> Screen lock is now disabled.
