Help Locked out of Galaxy S5

Lurker
Long story short, I'm locked out of my S5 because I don't remember the pin. I tried setting a new password using android device manager, but it keeps saying "we found a password has already been set and a new one is not needed. But the password that is already set is the one I don't remember....Help??? I don't want to reset my phone

But other people forgot their PIN and the device manager worked for them. Idk wjhy it's not working for me

I know that usually works, but for me, it did not for one very simple reason.

when my phone goes to sleep, it turns OFF both data, and WiFi... therefore, Google Device Manager could not see my phone. that is just something that I have to accept, I just use a slide screen to unlock my phone anyway. I have never lost a phone, I have a neckstrap on it and when I am where it might get lost, the strap goes around my neck.

Think theaters, busy malls, places where busy pick pocket thieves are at work.

Wish you well, do you by perchance, have Side Sync installed on your phone? if so, then a USB cord to your PC would allow you access.

* SideSync 3.0 - Android Apps on Google Play

But see, my data is on. And device manager is able to ring my phone and the optional recovery message pops up. It's just not letting me set a new password

How could I use sidesync to unlock my phone?

How could I use sidesync to unlock my phone?

Well, first of all, if you have NOT previously installed SideSync on your phone, this discussion is moot as you don't have a way to install it now. It requires the SideSync app to be on your phone, as well as the companion program to be on your PC.

I just now tried to access my S5 phone with SideSync from my PC w/o unlocking the phone's screen. I got a message telling me to start the phone's SideSync app.... uh oh, my suggestion just got trashed...

I had forgotten that little necessary step.
sorry to have brought it up, SideSync is a great app, just not going to help you.
