Locking App (Click and lock!?)

Hello. I've recently come from a blackberry to the Droid. I'm loving the Android OS so far. The only issue I have is locking. Is there an app that, simply by clicking an icon will manually lock the phone? On my blackberry I had an icon on my main menu that I used to lock it, and I hate having to reach up to hit that little button on the top to lock the phone. A simple button on my homescreen would suffice. I found tons of apps for altering/changing the whole pattern thing, but none for this simple task.

So in short, I'd like a simple lock icon on my main menu that I tap and it locks the phone. Does this exist yet?

Second question. When the phone is locked the only way to bump the screen back on is to hit the top power button. Yet again, I hate having to hit the tiny little button. I dont mind dragging the lock to unlock, its the hitting the button to turn the screen on thats the problem. Is there an app out there where I can just hit one of the side keys perhaps, or run my hand over all the menu buttons in succession? I realize it sounds trivial, but I have the hard case on it to protect it and hitting the little button just gets irritating.

I don't know about the apps, but I half agree with you. I have no issues pressing the top button to lock the phone, but it is a bit annoying to have to unlock it that way.

Even more annoying to me is that when your phone is locked and you receive a call, you can't just tap anywhere and have it answer. You have to crab the green call button and drag it across the screen. It took me a few seconds to figure that out the first time I had an incoming call.

And yes, I completely agree. I'd much rather just hit a button to answer a call, even if it is locked. The dragging is irritating if you're trying to pick up a call.

I agree 100% and have been searching endlessly for something to accomplish this.

There should be 2 settings on the phone, one for screen time out and one for screen lock as I don't want my screen to be on all the time however I don't like having to unlock it every time the screen turns off.

Someone has to make an app for this; seems like a simple task to make a quick lock/unlock feature that doesn't involve the top button.

Right... after posting that, I started playing with my car cradle. It covers the lock button. Irritating as crap. First, it irritates me that motorola wouldn't give any more options than they have for locking the phone. Second, it irritates me that they would make their own car charger in a way that you had to remove the phone to press the sleep button.

I think I am going to follow suit and dremel the holder to make it work... but the point is, we shouldn't have to.
