Hey guys,

Got a unbranded s5 and received another update today... except from the re adding of the silent feature I can't exactly work out what has changed.. hopefully someone knows?

what carrier are you on?

there are more than 35 different versions of the S5 and a lot of carriers in the mix. not all of them got the same exact mix of 5.0 features

It's an unbranded s5 g900f
that is the model phone you have, not the Carrier/ISP you are signed up with to get your phone service.

Did the update occur as an OTA, or did you do it with Kies?
we really need to get someone who is familiar with your carrier's update habits.

The international S5 he has get updates without carrier's tinkering with it :)
Nice to see Samsung is rolling out fast updates/bugfixes to 5.0, what did you receive 5.0.1?

Nice,

just wish that Verizon had left it alone precisely the way that Samsung released it.

If this is for real then the rest of us will get that update soon. As long as carriers don't screw it up ;) Fingers crossed...

This Android 5.0 release is on build OB7, build date 13th FEB; and has, among other things, the Mute toggle and screen pinning, (Samsung do not issue changelogs)...

Model SM-G900F
Model name GALAXY S5
Country United Kingdom
Version Android 5.0
Changelist 77433514
Build date Fri, 13 Feb 2015 04:39:10 +0000
Product code BTU
PDA G900FXXU1BOB7
CSC G900FOXA1BOB7
MODEM G900FXXU1BOB7

From #1.3 of 35 Galaxy S5 models - know yours???

"So called, "bugfix", updates for these unbranded models is therefore very easy for Samsung to release and can be as often as every 6-8 weeks."

I am afraid that by the time the heavy carrier branded models have modified the Samsung firmware and added all their bloatware, that firmware release will already be obsolete. :(

From #1.6 of 35 Galaxy S5 models - know yours???

"Whilst the carriers receive all the, "bugfix", updates from Samsung as other models, it is up to these individual carriers whether to spend the, not inconsiderable, time and money on incorporating all their modifications and releasing them. Consequently, these tend to receive far fewer, "bugfix", updates than most other models."

Mute

Screen pinning

Who says Samsung don't listen? ;)

With Pinning.. I have not heard of this but after reading the description above, I cannot see a reason why someone would use this.. What is the purpose of it.. Just curious..

Thanks
