When my Nexus 5 ran KitKat I used to arrive in work and connect to the staff WiFi connection and use that through the day, however since upgrading to Lollipop (5.0.1) the devices states that I have successfully connected but shows the "!" on the WiFi icon, which I understand means no WiFi traffic. Opening Chrome confirmed that I was offline, despite this and falls back to the mobile carrier. I tried bringing my new Nvidia Shield in (also on 5.0.1) that too shows the same connection issue. The WiFi is connected and everyone else I know on KitKat and below (and Apple devices) are able to connect to this WiFi network, but not me. I had a word with one of our network engineers and he couldnt help me except to say that our WiFi is a pretty archaic set up and needs an overhaul.
Im going out on a limb and assume changes in the Lollipop are summoning some kind of communications, but how can i get to the bottom of this and get some kind of network connection back.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
