Looking for a few

Insomni

Newbie
First of all I'd like to say hi to everybody as I'm new on the forum
(Have been reading up here for the weekend, but couldn't post)

I'm actually searching for a few apps
1) Free GPS navigation that downloads maps (don't have a 3G/... subscription)
2) Manga viewer that downloads manga (same reason)
3) Alarm that works out of airplane mode and has a changeable snooze (why the std alarm doesn't have this is a mystery to me)
4) A good working IRC client

Currently preferably apps that work on 1.5, but as I have the galaxy spica I'm assuming 2.1 will be installable in a week (optimistic ^^)
And ofcourse free is also prefered :)

ps: a side question, How does the market determine the country ? (IP, phone settings or google acc ?)

Thanks in advance

4) AndChat by AL.R - works fairly good. easy server and chan options. and some convent notifications. Only issue. verizon doesn't allow connection to EFnet servers. (have no clue why)

I tried andchat but it crashed after a few minutes repeatedly, as well as when I got kicked from a channel. But I'll give it another go.

for 2) I'm using manga browser (uses onemanga.com). Works great but it needs a continuous data connection.
I've also found a few that lets you view downloaded manga, but none so far that lets you download them through the app.

Some good suggestions given there.

Waze just might be the solution for your navigation problem - if you're willing to spend money there's a number of solutions (navigator, CoPilot, etc. etc).

For (3), I recently found Kaloer Clock which just might offer what you're lookin for (and it's free). I've not used it much yet but so far it seems pretty reliable.

jev -

let me know if you have any issues with kaloer clock. I installed it on my Eris today using 2.1 and I cannot get it to auto launch when my phone is on power. If I can remedy this it will be the perfect clock app.

@wildtouch83: it works like a charm on my Hero (1.5, not rooted). I've got both, "Start on charge" and "Only in period of time" checked so that it starts automagically when plugging it in at bedtime only. Works as advertised here. The comments in the market are somewhat varying, it seems you're not the only one having problems with auto launch. Maybe you should contact the author directly?
