Looking for a good external battery.

Hello,
I'm looking for a good external battery pack that I can carry with me everywhere I can. I'm looking for something small packed with as much juice as possible. I have a 3100 battery, so I'm hoping to get at least two charges.

My phone is fairly large, so the smaller the better so both can fit in my pockets. I had my eyes on the Tylt Energi, I like the AC feature which can be used both as charger and external battery but the power is too little.

Also, I'm hopping that can charge fast too.

Thanks in advance.

It Depends on the phone, but there are batteries available up to about 12,000 mAh. and they're small enough to fit into a pants pocker. (Of course, they come with a much deeper back for the phone.) but if a 3,100 mAh battery takes, say, 12 hours to go from fully discharged to fully charged, a 12,000 mAh battery will take about 26 hours to fully charge.

I usually jut carry around a spare normal size battery for my phone, so that if the battery goes dead right in the middle of an important call I can swap batteries and call rifhr back, And they only cost about $10 for good ones.

I just bought an 8400 mAh Anker external battery with two ports, one that's 1A and the other at 2A. It was thirty five bucks on Amazon. It actually increases my charge while using GPS on my s3. It seems like a good investment so far. It does take a while to charge, but it lasts for about three full charges.

You definitely come to a right place to ask about batteries :) Bring some popcorn, get comfy and head over to the Index of my reviews: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2/708384-twister-reviews-accessories-gadgets.html

Scroll down to battery section and read through different choices. Without a doubt, finding a reliable brand is #1 thing. I have reviewed dozens of external batteries and can tell you with certainty that Anker is #1 brand in that category. I have tested all of their batteries, and you can also see they are #1 on Amazon with thousands of 5-star reviews (bar none customer support, btw).

Regarding small batteries, your best bet will be super slim Anker Slim3 with 6000 mAh capacity. Its on amazon for $37.99 which is an excellent price. With 6000 mAh capacity, that will cover more than enough and it's slim enough to hold it together with your phone while using and charging at the same time. For emergency backup situation, don't settle for anything under 12000 mAh. Again, you can get anker's last gen E5 with 15000 mAh capacity for $49.99 on amazon now, or their 2nd gen Astro 3 with 12000 mAh for the same price (but I tested it to have a higher efficiency, so you will get almost as much juice as 15000 mAh version).

Keep in mind, labeled capacity is not the actual battery capacity your phone will get. Through your micro-usb port it has to go from 5V to 3.7V conversion and due to efficiency loss the final capacity will be 20%-30% lower.

if you have more questions, we here for you! I know I'm biased toward Anker stuff. I have tested so many different brands, and these guys deliver quality all the time. Another brand which is good - Ravpower. Sometimes you can get a really good deal on their products, and I have tested these in the past to be highly reliable as well.

Good luck!

If you are looking for something tiny. You can have a look at the RAVPower luster 3000mAh lipstick charger. It's very tiny and can easily fit into your pocket. I've picked up one on Amazon for $20. It works great. And I was surprised by how light the built-in flashlight is. I'm happy with it.

I was going to suggest the RAVPower RP-PB04 10000mAh 3.1A Power Bank fit for iPad 4, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S4, S3, Google Nexus 4, Moto X and other Mobile Devices on sale from Newegg for $24.95USD with free shipping but I must have gotten one of the last of them because the price is now $37.99USD

Not sure what country you're in but I use this small 2200 mAh thing from Maplins, gives two or three full charges & with reversible USB / micro USB & it recharges from USB wall charger or just USB. This goes with me on my long days out & powers anything that have USB cable (like iPods, etc). It's handy that my phone is micro USB so I only need that cable for this (ditch the feeble retractable 'travel cable' & use your own).

They also do a 5000 mAh charger that is obviously larger but both are reasonably priced.
