Help Looking for a reliable Route Planning app for the U.S.

So, I am looking for a (preferably free) app to plan delivery routes in the most time efficient way.

I did look into google maps but all that does is allow you to enter multiple stops but it doesn't tell you the best, shortest, efficient route.

I also saw several google search results for software, which I am not opposed to, but would rather it be free or low cost. Hence my request for an app. Maybe my search queries are not specific enough but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

I did find some apps in the PlayStore, but instead of downloading each of them and trying them out (ain't nobody got time for that :p ), I thought I'd ask here if one app was better than another etc.
One that looks promising (based on the description) was Road Warrior Route Planner.

Again, I am not opposed to some computer software if it is low cost or free:)

My step dad always relied on PC-Miler for truch routing as it included restrictions (height / weight / hazardous materials) in routing. CoPilot's trucking app is based on PC-Miler, and I use the car version and it works great. Car version for North America is ~$10. I think the truck version is much more ($100+???). Anyway, maybe worth a look, may not be at all what you are after.

I use Google voice with Google maps and always shows directions to with the shortest route also accounts for construction zones
Hmm, I've tried the Google Maps thing, adding several destination points but it will not plan the shortest route from point "A" to point "D". It will only direct me from point A to B to C to D even though point D is closer to point A, follow? :)

Edit: unless I'm totally missing something in Google Maps....which could very well be as I get frustrated too easily sometimes :(

I get where your coming from. I really only use it for A to B destinations, never multiple spots.
Could you be able to use it for single destinations instead?

Yes, that I do when we get a service call, but sometimes the same truck will make several deliveries or pickups along the way back etc.
