Specifically something like a silicon wristband, that lit up different colours based on what the phone was notifying you about? Eg Facebook, blue, messaging, green, email yellow etc...

You are describing exactly Embrace+ EMBRACE+, a smart piece of wearable technology by Paul & Rudy — Kickstarter - the kickstarter project. The only problem they promised to deliver their product in July, and now its end of November and all of their backers are calling it a scam now.

A HUGE problem with all these crowdfunding projects. You get a pretty demo, photoshoped pictures, a promise to deliver a product by a certain date. People believe, put their money to back up the project, and next thing have to wait 6-7months after a due date to receive some half backed hardware. That's why I only put my trust into Omate smart watch, the ONLY trusted campaign in KS. Period.

Sorry, got a little off-track with my comment, but in general Embrace+ is exactly what you have described in your question. But I would wait until they start delivering anything.

I never back any kick starter project for that exact reason you mentioned. And $50!!?? I was visualizing something along the lines of $10, many even $20 max, how much can a silicon band with an LED and a tiny computer cost?
