Looking for an application (Turn on Locations via SMS)

Hello there.

Plain and simple, I am looking for a Android application, that could remotely turn on the GPS Location (Via SMS or any other means).

As many of you know, Google phone finder can not see your phone location while the Location is turned off.

In case of losing or having the phone stolen, I would like to be able to track down my own phone, this is the reason why I am creating this topic. If you know any good, simple application, that wouldn't consume battery power, please let me know.

Alternatively, if there is an application that can stay hidden inside of my phone as well as not consume battery power and only activate under X circumstance (like getting a SMS message, be pinged by a computer application and so on), could you name a few, I would be grateful.

Trust me, I've scrolled and have tried quite a few of applications, I wouldn't be making this topic if I didn't feel rather helpless.

EDIT: Few criteria I thought might be worth mentioning:
• I really don't want it constantly tracking and recording my current location. I would prefer it to be activated under x criteria (like getting a command or sms with certain text)
• Would be great if it didn't eat battery life or constantly do flare pings until it is requested to.

I'm pretty sure Avast's anti-theft module used to be able to do this (not looked recently). Might be worth looking at Cerberus too, as I believe they have SMS controls.

If these are amongst the "quite a few" applications you've tried, my apologies, but as you've not said what you've tried that's impossible to avoid.

To be honest though, I always lead GPS location enabled (i.e. "device only" mode). It only uses power if an app is using the location, and as most of the stuff that wants to check regularly (weather apps and suchlike) uses wireless location it doesn't get hit often, and in practice is a negligible fraction of my typical power usage.

Yes sorry about it. Any suggestion is welcome, Also one user pointed out a good point. My phone is not rooted. I have tried the apps you have suggested, except the Avast anti-thief module. Cerberus tried, but it does not turn on the location :/

No, well it seems that without root nothing is going to work (last time I tested one of those apps I was rooted, so I didn't notice the restriction).

Best bet will be to find a location mode that doesn't drain power excessively.

You can use Tasker and the AutoInput plugin to toggle Location on/off by text message without user interaction.

Better still - dump Tasker and use the built-in Control UI function of Automagic.
