Root looking for help

I have had the zte anthem since december, hoping someone would root it, but alas nothing. So I have decided I want to learn so I can do it on my own. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some resources to help me on this quest. Right now i'm stuck because I can't get the file system to rw. any suggestions and/or links to articles/tuts/anything really would be greatly appreciated. For argument sake and the sake of making sure i get as much info as possible.... lets assume i'm "noobish" though. I don't want to f up my phone. :p Hope someone here can help me out. Thanks.
 
while waiting in hopes to get a reply... I copied all i could of the files from the phone to my computer and started browsing... found busybox in /system/bin... is this normal? Someone gotta help a brother out, I need input. :D
 
I have tried framaroot, though i see there is a update from the version i tried but.... I'm having an issue with the touch not working correctly that the full factory recovery I just did, did not fix it. :/ so tomorrow morning i'm taking it in to see if I can get an exchange. I'd rather root something in better working order :p
