Looking to buy a new phone - need help

Hello,

I've been a devoted iPhone user for a couple of years now, but lately I've been getting fed up with it. It's taken a long time to get the iOS 6 jailbreak and most of the tweaks I relied upon are not compatible with iOS6. I got a chance to play around with a friend's Galaxy note and was pretty impressed (the screen is too big though) and have decided to get a new phone in the next couple of months.
I've been looking around and the One X caught my eye. It doesn't, however have a memory card slot, which is a deal breaker. One of the reasons I'm getting rid of the iP4 is that it doesn't have expandable memory.

Would you be able to list a few phones with the following? Preferably not samsung, I've had bad experiences with them

300+ ppi
4.5 inch screen+,
SD Card slot
8MP+ Camera with 1080p video
1.9MP + front facing camera (preferably with hd video, if possible)
Dual core or Quad, no single Cores please.

The phone will be primarily used as a camera and for my (rather large) collection of movies which is why I want a high res screen an expandable memory. Please note that I am currently in India, so carrier specific phones aren't available here.

Thanks for reading that wall of text!

As stated above, the HTC butterfly J is a seriously well speced phone.

I would personally wait until HTC announce their new M7 flagship specs later this month on the 19th before deciding though.

They should be pulling out all the stops on it to try and reverse their downturn in sales as of late.

Hello and welcome, newandroid1. Nice to see another iPhone refugee arrive here and join up. ;)

The "Device/Carrier Comparisons" sub-forum (here where I've relocated your question/thread) might help you a bit more than in any one device sub-forum. :)

Thanks for the suggestions! I took a look at the j butterfly but the guy at the shop mentioned the xperia z - identical specs, better camera and water proof. Its coming to India by the end of march and its 200 dollars cheaper. Looks like I'll be holding onto the iPhone for a little longer :/ One question I have though is, how long does a phone like the butterfly or xperia z have before they stop supporting it? The google nexus one came out around the same time the iP4 did and while the iPhone got iOS6, the Nexus is stuck at gingerbread. What's the average support span of a high end android phone??

The Nexus One is a 3 year old phone and is on ICS. Not too bad for an upgrade.
Upgrades in general really depend on the manufacturer. If it's a skinned device or tied to a carrier it generally takes longer to get upgrades. Nexus devices are upgraded until Google feels like the hardware can't handle the new software.
If you're looking for a phone now, I recommend the Galaxy S3. It has a great camera and expandable storage.

If you don't mind me asking, how is the nexus one on ics? GSMArena and wikipedia all state it's upgradeable to 2.3.6..? I'm not going for the S3 for 2 reasons: It feels cheap in the hand, while it is a nice phone, it feels to plasticky. 2, 3 of my friends have S3's, out of them, 2 of them dropped them and they both broke. I saw a couple of drop tests on youtube as well and decided to not get an S3. The sony site states that the Z is made of some kind of strong material used to make cars, so it seems strong enough lol

id say the Sony Xperia P or S is a very good option. you could also look at Galaxy Grand Duos which has a 5 inch screen, 1080p video recording and dual sim as well.

Check out the HTC Evo 4G LTE. It's basically a One X with a card slot. It meets all the specs you're talking about and it has a great build quality--mostly metal like the iPhone. If you're patient you can snag a good deal on one--I got mine brand new in the box on feeBay for $200 with a clean ESN. Definitely one of the best phones I've ever had.....To me, the Samsungs feel cheap and plasticky compared to the build quality of many of the HTC phones.

I don't have any experience with them, but BLU has a lot of phones that are close to those stats.
The BLU Quattro 4.5 has a 4.5" screen, 245 ppi, 1080p video recording, a Tegra 3 (quad core), and costs around $250.

BLU Products unveils Tegra 3-running Quattro 4.5, 4.5 HD and 5.7 HD
