I also am currently on a plan with the unlimited data package with one and a half years left on contract. If you are interested in taking it over to get the unavailable unlimited data plan that is currently provisioned to act as a wireless hot spot as well you can have it.

From my understanding, this cant be done. When you try to verizon will put it on the 2GB plan. Reason I say this is I too am looking to get rid of my unlimited plan and that is what htey told me. Or am I missing something?

As w/most service issues, results will vary, depending on who you deal w/at VZW.

I recently looked into it & was told this much from a VZW CSR,that sometimes the unlimited data carries over on an ASSUMPTION of LIABILITY,sometimes it doesn't.
One can only speculate as to why this may be.

The one thing I'm sure of is the one taking over the account needs to bring their own phone to the party, or, use the one that's tied to the contract. Getting a subsidized phone will kick you out of unlimited data.

Thanks for this and I didnt want to hijack the thread. I plan on selling my phone half off with someone taking over my plan and didnt know if I should advertise I have unlimited data or not.

The OP was trying to sell the phone attached to the contract, but, in a separate thread.
Only reason I see to keep the thread where it is if the phone & contract are bundled together in the deal.

I got someone elses unlimited plan 3 months ago. The person with the plan has to call verizon and tell them your name and that you will be calling to take over the account. You then call the following number; 888-832-4540. And you just tell the person that you are taking over the account for them.

The girl I talked to didn't give me a hard time about it or anything. She didn't even ask why I was taking it over. All in all it took only 5 mins.

BUT- Like I said I did this a few months ago and things have changed a bit with verizon as they are no longer doing the double data plans and are trying to get EVERYONE with unlimited data to switch to one of the shared data plans. Even now when I switch phones back and fourth on verizon.com from my rezound and iphone 4s the verizon website tries to make me switch to a capped data plan, you have to be really careful when doing it.

But the only way to find out is to have the person with the account call verizon and verify it can still be done.

I have seen MANY people on other forums trading/selling unlimited data packs with no issue. But as I have said, this may have changed. If you want to get rid of your plan or you want to buy one you had better hurry because BIG changes are coming down the pipeline with VZW.
