Looks like Windows 7 SP1 is out

I just saw it as a recommended update while running Windows Updates on a computer at work. Didn't install it as I don't trust major updates from MS when they first come out. Anyone tried it out yet?

I went ahead and let it install yesterday.

No changes of a negative nature that I've seen so far. I did reject Silverlight, again, however.

I just looked for the standalone installer so I can carry it around on my thumbdrive - 2 gb. And it requires a Windows Live account just to download it. Way to go MS. Make it easy for people.

I downloaded the standalones last night 1.?GB for both 32 & 64Bit. I didn't have to sign into anything either. Keep looking "A.Nonymous" it's out there.

Been running it for a couple of days on 64 bit workstation and 32 bit virtual machine. No issues so far, and both machines are fairly heavily used (workstation with multiple VMs, VM used for coding)

My googling seems to reveal that this SP adds practically nothing to Windows 7. It seems like a minor release.

I have always stayed away from updates, abd definitely SP's when they are first released... gonna stay away from this one for a bit regardless of the lack of issues I am seeing in this thread, just not worth updating when nothing is broked :P

You really should install SP's because most of the time they have a lot of security fixes.

No problems yet on 64-bit Pro edition.

Actually they usually don't. Service Packs are usually just gigantic rollups of previously released patches. It's basically the equivalent of buying an entire season of some TV show. If you've already bought all the episodes individually off iTunes or someplace as they aired you don't get a lot more on the DVD collection. You get some interviews and behind the scenes stuff. You might get director's commentary on a few episodes. Is that worth forking over the money to buy the DVD set when you already own all the episodes? That's pretty much all the difference is.
