Lurker
So I have a Galaxy S3 and when I go to my gallery all I see is my screenshoots folder. My camera folder just dissappeared. I dont have an SD card and I've tried turning the phone off and back on. After connecting it to the PC the files in my DCIM folder show up as LOCKED as you can see here http://puu.sh/b7HGx/1d2c0274f5.png

Please help, I had over 500 photos :/

What was you doing before you discovered this . and are you rooted with a custom rom

I was on the usual social network apps (Twitter, Instagram) then I went into my gallery and my Camera folder wasnt there. The other folders including the screenshot folder are still there. And no Im not rooted.

Are you rooted if you are try and edit without the words locked. Also have you put the micro SD card into the adapter and see if they view on the PC/laptop. I do remember seeing that a thumb drive failed on a few of the s4 and s5 and this happened but they received replacement devices . try the adapter if they show move them A.S.A.P aka as soon as possible .

The OP isn't rooted and doesn't have an SD card.

I'm assuming you haven't got cloud backups enabled? (such as dropbox or google photos)

It happened to me just now with the Galaxy Nexus. I doubt the applications that I installed and uninstalled. These applications seeking approval to access photos, videos and messages.
