Help Lost Clock after Update

J_w73

Lurker
Have you ever seen the time and date being off after a screen replace? I replaced the screen and all works well with the screen functionality but after replace the time and date are off. I can not manually change them and they will not update from the network. The date is 1/1/1970. The time minutes doesn't even match up with the correct minutes. The automatic time zone does update to the correct time zone after being changed manually.

With the date and time off, I am not able to access the google servers for the play store and the browser will not allow access to any web page. I think the time being off makes the servers think there is some sort of security issu.

I have only found 1 other instance of this while doing a google search. The person said they went back to their old screen and the problem went away.

welcome to Android Forums.

What version of the system are you running? 4.4.4?

Did you do a Factory Data Reset?

... Thom

4.4.2. I've done a factory reset a half a dozen times. With and without the sim card in the phone. I've gone to verizon and got a new sim card. I have also flashed a motorola factory version of the OS. Same results every time.

droid razr maxx hd. Is it possible that a former app changed an internal setting on the phone? I had an issue where my phone would not call out or receive calls.. I did a factory reset and it still didn't help. Found out that it was from an lg app that I had that allowed me to go from 3g to 4g. The radio setting was changed to USA Band or cellular, forgot which one. But even a factory reset did not change this. I had to get the app again and go into the settings and change it. Perhaps the same sort of thing is going on here?

You posted this in the Droid Maxx forum and not the Droid Razr Maxx HD forum.

Droid Razr HD/Razr Maxx HD
Droid Maxx

If you verify that you are using a Droid Razr Maxx HD we will move this to the correct forum.

Where I was coming from was that on the Droid Maxx a Factory Data Reset was not doing a Wipe Cache Partition under 4.4 and is under 4.4.4.

I don't know the history on the Droid Razr Maxx HD ... it would not hurt anything to do it ... it just deletes temporary files.

My guess is that something got damaged in addition to the screen and that is the cause of your problem.

I wiped the cache partition and it did not help.

Also, the clock was lost after a screen replace, not an update.

Verizon tech service said that perhaps the cmos battery was damaged. Does the phone have a cmos battery? Do you have any idea what part of the hardware would control the clock? I was going to contact Motorola to see what they said. Any possibility that it is related to the people having the same issue after the kitkat update?

Your first message said "I have only found 1 other instance of this while doing a Google search. The person said they went back to their old screen and the problem went away"

that would seem to indicate that he/she had an incorrect replacement part.

Maybe that's the same for you?

Yes. The screen can fix or break the clock function on a Razr maxx hd!

I have two razr maxx hd phones. They both used to work perfectly. The clock update function stopped working on one of them just as you described. I swapped the screens and the date issue followed the screen.
