Help Lost contacts on restore

kevin_kjj

Newbie
So i was having a few problems with the new JB update and from what i read a 'factory data reset' might help. so i backed up via kies, erased all data and proceeded to restore. messages came back, call logs but no contacts. i had synced my contacts to gmail awhile back but they don't seem to be there either. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

i just noticed, it even brough back the group heading for some of my contacts, but not the contacts. any help greatly appreciated

For Google to back up your contacts, they have to be stored as Google type and not phone type. If yours were not Google then they may not have been backed up.
Are you able to see them if you log into your Gmail account?
Good luck!

nope i can't see them there. also i noticed when i opened the call log list the first time it momentarily displayed the contacts name, but was quickly overwritten with just the number.

Sounds like the log may have been cached and then when it went to live lookup, it couldn't find the names.
As far as I know, if Google did not get them, and you have no separate backup, you may have lost them. Sorry!
