Lost contacts

[Android Question]

I have an LG Nexus 4 and my contacts are synced to my hotmail account. They disappeared yesterday and can't seem to sync them back. I thought they might be saved on the phone and the contacts storage app is 4mb so think they might be. Haven't saved any vCards though. Can anyone help? Thanks

Have you ensured on a PC that they're still in your Hotmail account?
Check into Settings - Accounts and see that they're still sync'd.
