Help Lost Pictures, please help

Lurker
I was attempting to hide an album. I suppose I did it wrong, because instead of making a file called ".h", I made an albym called ".h" and put all of my pictures I wanted to hide in it. I hit done and when the progress was complete, the album was not there, so basically I created the album and moved the pictures in one step, and it disappeared. I then made an album without the . and it worked fine. I can't find the folder, which I called ".h", anywhere. I can see the pictures in photo editor or when I view pictures by date, but not when I view by album. I also can't find it on my computer if I plug my phone is. Where did this album go and how can I do what I wanted to correctly, which is simply have a folder that is hidden. There is now an option on the galaxy s3 that says hidden items, so ideally, this would allow me to view them.

edit:

update: I found the album in my files. Maybe there was a delay because I moved 108 pictures. What is the point of this "hidden files" option and is there no way to view these pictures in the gallery when I want to and hide them when I don't without using an outside app?

A dot prefix followed by name, is unix way if defining system (hidden) files.

Such files are automatically invisible if you plug the phone to your computer, (even if you select Show Hidden Files) or to apps like gallery. We use it to hide images from apps, music folders (art covers) of widget images, so they don't populate the gallery in hundreds of folders.

It's not the way to hide them, the way you intended :)
If you want to secure part of the gallery, lock a folder, you will need 3rd party gallery app. Something like this:
