LTE Advanced not available for Z Play?

Has anyone else seen this? I was all set to pick up the z play based on all the battery life raves but then noticed that Verizon does not have it listed as compatible with LTE Advanced. I did not believe it, because it is brand new, and the year-old Turbo 2 is listed as compatible! So I chatted with them, and also called them and was told both times that it is not compatible with LTE-A. HUGE disappointment and a deal breaker I think. Guess it is back to the Turbo 2 for me. The other Zs do not have the 3.5mm jack.

Surprised I am not seeing this anywhere on the web though, even here. Isn't it odd that a phone that came out AFTER LTE-A was announced does not have it?
 
I know the US have slightly different definitions of LTE to the UK, but I've seen 4G+ on my unlocked Play here in the UK.
 
Is this a phone supplied by Verizon, or an import bought online or something? For non-Verizon devices could be worth checking with willmyphonework.net and

Hi, let me clarify. This is for USA-based Verizon. It works on their LTE network. However, it will not work on their NEW network, LTE Advanced. Was hoping someone else might have experience that would contradict this information, as I really wanted this phone. Blows my mind that this would not be compatible but phones going back 2 years are!
 
From what I keep reading about Verizon is they don't seem to know much and tell their customers some real rubbish.

Have you checked with Motorola themselves on their official support forums?

I would say it's more it's not yet tested or is too new to appear on their 'scripts' yet. I can't see Motorola removing technology from their handsets.

I'm assuming that they actually mean low power 4G?

Hi, thanks, no, it is their new LTE network that allows for higher data speeds. I called Motorola and their techs in the Phillippines knew nothing whatsoever. Could not even tell me what bands the phones work on. They are awful. I then called Verizon and talked to tier 2 techs and he kept talking about Advanced Calling which is just making calls over WiFi. He knew nothing either. So I have been trying the Internet because it seems that only forums can provide answers. Here is a link to what I am talking about. So frustrating.

Moto Z droids are listed, so compare the specs against the play.

As hardware isn't that much different between Z models, it should work fine?
 
I checked with Qualcomm and the Snapdragon 625 supports cat 9 which should handle LTE-A, but everything I see shows that the Play does not support it. Also, LTE-A is also called 4G+.
 
As I say, check the specs of the Play against the Z Droid etc.

I cannot imagine it wouldn't work. More it simply isn't on their 'tested' list.

So I actually contacted Qualcomm and they noted that the hardware certainly supports it. I have also contacted someone from Motorola and they have noted that it is compatible. However, it is not that simple. They are checking, but they believe that Vz has not gotten approval from the FCC in the USA to allow the phone to actually use that band. So it may be that they have not tested it as you mentioned, but it may be that they simply will not allow the system to be used. I am hoping someone has this phone and can tell me.
 
I have Moto z play in Canada with Koodo. And I have LTE+
