M8 kodi not updating

M8 box.
Kodi 15.2 won't update to 16.1 even though I've followed the Google play store route of simple downloading then installing. Says it has installed but kodi system still says 15.2. Any advice. Do.I need to tick something.

You need to completely UNINSTALL the original version FIRST!

Aha I see. I was led to believe that like the firestick. ou could update easily. Means I'll lose my repos etc hmmm. Think will leave it. Thanks for the reply

you can do a full back up plus a couple of other options to see if after installing Jarvis you can bring your addons back. if not, you just restore your full back up.

I don't know if its frown up to post outside links but google backing up kodi to usb or sd card.

He may have a username like a Star Wars android but that man has good advice.
You can easily backup your current settings and import them onto your updated version of KODI.

Actually, you should do the backup even if you don't upgrade KODI, just in case it breaks or becomes corrupted in the future.

(Be sure to backup to an SD card or USB drive/stick.)
