after playing with my girl's nexus 7c for a few days, i've managed to place a call to my galaxy note via voip.
as a malaysian user, it's pretty hard to attach my mobile number to google's voice service, so i had to find another solution.
then i found a post talking about callcentric.com, an internet phone service whereby registration is free. registered two accounts (me and my girl) and then installed CSipSimple (still free last i check a few minutes ago).
just link the CSipSimple app with the callcentric number and everything is good to go.
calls to & fro went through without a hitch. call quality is ok, except for the lagging (both gadgets are on data connection. might be better using wifi i presume).
according to callcentric's website, calls made between their account holders are free (while calls to landline and mobile numbers are charged), so let me try this for a few weeks and will get back with the outcome.
