Android Question

I am considering getting into the "Smartphone" world. Everything I read praises the Android OS over Apple OIS hands down. I am interested in the HTC One, but just as I am ready to make the decision, I come across complaints about the Android systems having problems with freezing up or locking up. I don't want a device that is going to require constant effort to use. Is this problem real or not?

I'm sure it's real to the people who complained, but it's not an inherent problem. In fact, my wife… who has the seemingly uncanny ability to break everything she touches, has never had a problem in 2.5yrs of Android ownership (with 3 devices). The HTC One is a great choice BTW. It was one of the final two I was considering, before I ultimately got the Galaxy S4.

I believe that most of the issues you have read about are from people who rooted their device (equivalent of "jailbreaking" an iDevice), and then got into trouble by deleting or otherwise messing with vital system files. A stock Android phone wil be as reliable as its iPhone or Blackberry equivalent.
