Help Make android think it has a SIM card?

hi everyone!
I'm new to these forums and I have a question to ask-
Is there any way to make my rooted galaxy ace think it has a SIM card when it doesn't?
There are some apps I need that require one for so-called 'verification', including the bloat ware 'Samsung apps' program.

Any way to do this?

Not that I know of. A cheap pay as you go SIM is probably far less hassle than trying to hack deep into the system software.
True...but I have got some time on my hands...
Do you know then, where does android store the stuf that tells it it's sim/networks info? Or a root app (i have root) that shows and edits it??

I' Ve figured out a way...it's not exactly what I wanted...
I found an old sim with no credit or anything and whacked it in. Now a can access Samsung apps and stuff.

I'm still looking for a different, "tricking" way...

This sounds like something Samsung has done, rather than an Android issue. What kind of "verification" are the apps requiring? They just require the presence of a SIM, and doesn't matter if it's active or not? What happens if you put the Galaxy Ace into airplane mode, which turns off the cellular radio, can the apps "verify" then?

There's many Android devices, including Samsungs, that just don't have cellular radios and take SIMs, e.g. WiFi only tablets.

I've tried airplane mode and radio off....
I think they need a location thing. From what I've read on other sites, the Samsung market, for example, needs your location to see what store to give you. They check the phone number and figure out where it is from. Then they let you in.

There should be a way but as the others have said its deep in the OS, I'm actually encountering such an issue with my Meizu M3S where it needs a SIM Card to perform a Hard Factory Reset

is that a Meizu that was intended for sale and use in China, rather than international, that doesn't have any Google Play etc. on it? Because in the absence of FRP that's tied to a Google Account. FRP in China is done by the SIM and carrier, and it must have the active SIM and service with the original +86 mobile phone number it was registered with, to reset and clear it. No other way around AFAIK.

I actually found it in a park a few days ago so i'm not quite sure but i'm guessing so as there is no sign of Google play or gplay services on it However the phone is unlocked so i'm going to see if Recovery mode works with a Local SIM card otherwise a flash may be my next option

I guess attempting to find the person who lost it (e.g. using the information in the phone) and returning their property to them didn't occur to you?

Or handing it in to the police as lost property (where, at least in the UK, it would be returned to you once they were sure nobody would claim it)?

That's definitely a China variant, rather than international. And I know with them the only way to reset and clear FRP, is to have access to the mobile number and SIM it was originally registered and activated with. Basically the phone sends and receives an SMS with the phone number to initially register, and then de-register the phone when you want to factory reset.

BTW I learned about Chinese version FRP the long way round, when I sent an Oppo to the UK from China, and I didn't completely clear it. It had to wait until I was in the UK, with my China Unicom SIM that I originally used with that phone. And we cleared the FRP on international roaming.

As for flashing it, that most likely won't work. And it defintely does require the original SIM and mobile number, and not just any SIM.

Managed to get the owners phone number and asked them to pick up their phone But all i got was "Chuck the stupid piece of shit out" So i did

...looking high and low for its rightful owner. Right?

I'm guessing that's what you'd hope some kind soul would do if they found your phone. It's unlocked. Its owner's info should be right there for you or the police to see...

Finding the number to their mobile in the phone i contacted the owner who told me it was chucked by them because "It was a piece of shit and they also told me to chuck it in the trash since it wasn't worth my time" so i contacteed the police and handed it in No response from the owner when i told them that i handed it in

You did the right thing. :)

As @Hadron noted, the police should offer it to you if its rightful owner doesn't claim it within their timeframe. Then you can keep it with a clear conscience.

Maybe they thought it was a piece of shit because they didn't know how to use it. You've got us! :D

I can believe their statement about them not knowing how to use it which would (in turn) cause the frustration to throw it
But anyway i got an email about 3 hours ago confirming no one has picked it up in the last 2 weeks and the offer of the phone came up so im going to pick it up later on...

below is a photo of it when i first found it (meizu m3s)

The SIM card rules your calls. WiFi calling is dead.

I guess manufacturers don't want to make tiny PCs anymore.

But if you don't want to make calls a WiFi connected Android phone is almost like a PC.

Yeh, send it for recycling. Quite frankly I don't think hardly anyone wants a rather busted China version Meizu.
