Make sd card default storage for screenshots

Start up your Camera app, look in the app's Settings menu. There should be an option on where to set the default save location. Should be set to use internal storage so opt to use your microSD card instead.
 
Thank you! But, I've already got that set. I want to set up my screenshots to be saved on my SD card also. They are now being saved to my internal storage and I've not been able to find a way to change that.
 
I very much doubt there is one. Screenshots are a system function in android devices these days and I've never seen any settings for it, it's just there.

Use your file explorer or gallery app to move them after you have taken them. That's all I can suggest.
 
My mistake for misinterpreting your original question. As @Hadron referred to, screen captures are done by a process that's been added into the operating system, not an app. So that leaves you with the option of either moving screen cap files manually using a file manager app or photo manager app, or install a third-party app like one of these

where you have to set up the automatic move of files from internal storage to your microSD card. Keep in mind most people just don't make a lot of screen captures on a consistent basis so it's not a priority to make it into a major feature with all kinds of options. In turn, depending on how often you yourself are taking screen shots, you might not want to even bother with installing a third-party utility to automatically move files around as that's something that will be always be running in the background using your phone's system resources -- weigh the convenience aspect with do you actually need it. If you only take a screen shot or two every so often, you're probably better off just using a file manager app for those isolated occasions.
 
Thank you for your replies. The explanation of screen capture being a built in function of the operating system makes sense. The "My files" tool on my Samsung phone is easy to move them. I was just hoping to be able to have them saved to my SD card. I do appreciate the members taking the time to reply to my question.
 
Okay. But if this is the case, then why is it still possible to switch the camera save location to the SD card? Isn't this also a system function?

There is a distinction between the photos and videos you yourself take, and the screen cap photos that are taken using whatever gesture is required by a mobile device. Both utilize the camera module and result in an image but they're also two different intentions -- one being something we tend to retain (our photos) while the other is just most commonly a temporary matter (screen captures). In most mobile devices, the default save location is set in the Camera app's settings menu, not the device's Settings menu. The former being an app option, the latter a system option. Of course your device might be different, that's just what I've experienced.

Go to settings, scroll down to advanced features, scroll down to screenshots and screen recorder, scroll down to save screenshots in, select the arrow at the top to go to SD card and hit done at the bottom. When you are finished and return to advanced settings under screenshots and screen recording, you should see that the default storage location is the SD card. Good luck. Worked fine with my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
