I see the there is an app for our calendars now. Can we make this larger instead of an app? I had the Galaxy4 and I loved how I had my calendar right in my face.

There are many apps for calendars, most of which let you put widgets on your homescreen as well as acting as an app, and most of which let you customise font sizes as well as the sizes of other User Interface elements.
Download a few, try them out, see what you like. If you want more specific advice, please post again with a more detailed description of what you want, because as far as I can tell you seem to be asking for something that most calendar apps can do.
