making purchases on android market?

Hi, I just got a desire and am loving the phone, but am having trouble making purchases from the Android market. I can download the free stuff, but the payment system is not accepting my personall details even though they are correct. I've tried many times but the same result Any ideas from anyone? It's my first Android device.

You need to create a separate 'Google Checkout' account, not just your default Googlemail login.

It will ask you for a credit card etc. So that you can be charged.
