Making sure Nexus 7 isn't stolen

I'm thinking about purchasing a Nexus 7 off of Craigslist. How do I verify that the unit was not stolen/lost/etc? Is there a way to do this before I purchase? Thanks!

Nope, because it does not need activation, but it does need to be registered, so you can always check with Nexus to see if it was flagged in the system with them. Click Here for INFO

Thanks, but the link doesn't pull anything up. The person says it is new and in the box. Purchased it as a gift for someone who doesn't want it. I'm always a bit skeptical on craigslist and like to cover my bases first.
