i am from malaysia. I read a thread saying tht any droid updates can only be initiated by the carriers.
If it is the case, how can i update my android from malaysia? i am currently on 1.6. my droid is HTC Dream.
Malaysia is quite late in terms of technology, I got my dream online. Even made a research for 3 weeks trying to minimize the risks of buying this HTC. why? coz there are no HTC dream in Malaysia which means gonna be a prob in maintenance wise, spare parts and software updates...but knowing Google is heavily doing their charm thru internet, i think it shud be alright and it does, just that i need updates.
By the time Malaysia has realized the existence of Android, they can only import in the HTC magic.
any possible way for me to be proactive instead of waiting? I love Android. its simple and the OS is not as laggy and heavy as windows thus i am keen on having the latest updates on it...maybe i can update my OS online?? download and plug in my droid...install it like installing a software into windows.
