This has been reported on other forums and I've experienced it myself.
Even when set to manual brightness, the Edge is still tied to Auto brightness as the result of a software glitch. It seems almost all Edge phones have this problem. I first noticed it when my Note 4 seemed much brighter than my Edge. Yet when I was auditioning the phones at BB, the Edge actually appeared brighter than my Note 4!
Yet taking the phone outdoors, the display appears much brighter than it does indoors. I've absolutely verified the Auto brightness is not checked and, as I've said, most Edge owners are seeing the same thing.
A very easy way to check this is to bring your brightness up to 100% with Auto deselected in a relatively dim room. Now shine a small flashlight at the ambient sensor and watch your brightness rise dramatically.
Samsung needs to address this in a software update, which should be easy to do. Many might not ever notice it if you're someone who doesn't max out their brightness.
I like the phone too much to return it and swapping it out will probably be to no avail since it appears almost all Edges have this issue...not the regular S6 interestingly enough.
