Can someone confirm that you can tether with USB on 2.2? If you cannot, I will have to root the phone....

no. each phone gets it's own separate software upgrade.

Q: for anyone who has done this update, are you still able to use apps for tethering or are they disabled/blocked after the update?

i ask because at the moment i need the tethering while on vacation, but i am dying to try out 2.2

Followed the instructions on the link and everything went smooth...I am running 2.2 with no problems so far....and this is my first "mod" I have done to the Droid.

Ok, I just ran the update from droidlifes link. tethering aps work on the droid running the 2.2 update. i was downloading the update at almost 200 mps over the tether by the way, not bad at all.

Okay this one is bizarre: the new 2.2 tethering works fine, no issues. Even works when you RECEIVE a call, you can still surf no problem. But, if you are surfing and MAKE a call, Internet dies. Any ideas out there to help me out? Its my wifes phone, which as many of you know, when mama ain't happy, nobody happy...
