Market and paying $... Safe?

Whew, first day in with Eris! Been reading and reading on here and messing with the phone, pretty neat coming of a BB.
Really newbie ?, but after installing some useful and stupid free apps, there are a few paid apps I'd like to purchse.
You just hit purchase/buy and fill out all your CC info on the phone? Is this safe?
Is there another way to load credits or something? Paypal perhaps?
Also, I see alot of the apps are from the UK, in pds. I believe. This auto convert it, etc?
Sorry for the newbie ?'s, but my searching didn't come up with these specifics/
Thank you very much!
GOnna be haning here alot!:D

Don't be sorry for any questions you have, especially coming from BB. I was in the same boat when I first got my G1, and I was coming from WinMobile.

Buying apps is completely safe. It uses Google's checkout service, which is very secure. As far as buying apps that are in different currencies, Google checkout service auto converts the currency for you. I did some research and bought a few paid apps that were in euros, and I technically paid less than what the actual conversion was supposed to be. Granted it was only a couple of pennies, but hey in this economy a couple of pennies here and there can amount to a lot.

If there is a way to use another form of payment, then I have no idea how to do that. Sorry.

Thank you very much jw! That does answer my ?'s:>)
I do miss some ease of useages from my BB (especially pushed yahoo mail which is all I ever use), but truly don't use it for much more than a phone and addy book. Few surfings, few pictures/videos, and not much more. I'm hoping some of the fun things will make it much more "fun" for this old man!

LOL. No worries.

I was thinking about getting a BB Storm before I got my G1, but decided that Android OS seems to be way more user friendly than BB OS.
