Market crashing constantly

There seems to be preciously few topics about this, but here we go...

I had a manga reader called Mango. I started it up one day to read some Naruto & find there's an update. "Ok" I say to myself & go to update it. Boom, crash. My phone decides to reboot itself & when it comes back I get a message saying that "The application Market (process.com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

The market would load ok but I couldn't search. (Clicking the magnifying glass did nothing). I rebooted my phone & now that won't load. I tried clearing data/cache, no dice. Uninstall updates was not a listed option. However after a few reboots I got the option to just uninstall it entirely. I did so & reinstalled it (found an APK online from what I believe to be a good site) but it's still not working.

I'd received previous advice to uninstall said manga reader & did so but it made no difference.

Any ideas short of resetting the phone back to factor defaults? I'm starting to get a bit desperate as this is going on a week or so & I've a lot of data that it would be tough to backup & restore if I had to do a factory restore (and frankly, it might even bring the prob back).

Thanks~!

Unfortunately you do not mention which version of Android Market you were using.

Currently, handsets/operators are using at least 3 versions of the, so-called, "New" Market and countless versions of the old Market.

To check and clarify which version you are running, go to...

Settings > Applications > Manage apllications > All > Market... when you select Market it displays which version you are actually using.

If you are not using v3.1.5 then you can download and install the .apk from here:-

Sorry, didn't think to mention it.
HTC Droid Incredible @ Froyo (2.2)
Market @ 3.0.26

Should I uninstall then do the one in the link?

uninstall updates and clear market data and maybe reboot. Dont download the one on like yet and leave the phone connected to the internet for about an hour or so. You may get the update pushed. Mango isnt available in the market for me, I used the direct download link to update within the app.

Thanks chanchan, as I mentioned above the uninstall updates function is gone. I cleared cache, data and even ininstalled the matket entirely to no avail. I will however try amd leave it uninstalled amd hope i get a push. Im on Verizon Wireless if thats helpful.

Thanks all.
