Market trouble

I have an HTC Magic+ on Rogers (Android 2.1), and have had access to the Market since a long time, never really had any trouble with it.

Since early this week, I'm trying to download a new app from the Market, but can't... Market is stuck in an infinite loop, trying to download, but not making any progress on the "progress bar".

I've been through the Google Support forums, contact them (not much help there) and have reset my device several times since (both software and hardware resets.) I've also tried clearing the Market Cache and Download Manager Cache in Manage Applications... while this stops the infinite loop, as soon as I retry, it starts all over again...

When I "hard reset", the phone reverts back to an "old" Market version (1714), but it immediately (and silently, there's no indication it's doing so) updates itself to 2002306.

Anyone else have this issue? I think this version of the Market is broken... thoughts?

I've got a Samsung Epic through Sprint and have had the same problem you have had with the market. I haven't tried anything with the phone, being unsure and not quite as tech savvy as others. It is frustrating because I have tried a few dozen times to download apps with the same "loop" problem. Even after cycling the phone on and off a few times over the course of a week, I can do back and try to download to app only to find that it's telling me the download is still in progress without any progress showing.

Is there some way to uninstall an update for the market? This has been happening since the software was automatically updated on my phone.

I still have the problem, and while I seem to have a support ticket number at Google support (I got an email from them with a number in the subject), I don't get any response from them at all...

The ONLY way I can download, is by uninstalling the update and immediately going to the (old) market (version 1714.) As long as I stay there, I can download stuff, w/o any problems whatsoever. However, as soon as I "quit" the market, when I come back, it's updated to the 2002306 version, which doesn't download.

Google customer service sucks, I'm sick of their non-existent support. The emails I get from them are basically a rehash of the stuff already on their web site. I've sent questions to them, as well as descriptions of all I've done in the hope of getting them to "find" the problem, but I don't even get a "We're looking into this..."... nothing. I've also tried going through Rogers and HTC, and both respond "We don't support Google Market, Google does, sorry!"

Sad state of affairs...
