marketplace for international users?

I live in the cayman Islands am debating getting an Android phone or wait for the new iphone in june. The app store works here fine but like the blackberry market android's wont work here. Is there anyway around this or am i suck with the iphone? Thanks

I'm from the Philippines. I can download free apps from the Android Market but I can't purchase apps for my Nexus One. One way around this is to use a GSM SIM card from a carrier from a country where the market is available. I use a prepaid SIM card from Vodafone in Spain, connect to the market via wifi, purchase the app I want from the market and switch back to my Philippine SIM. Works for me!
