Yep. Have the same trouble. I find all the warnings about SD cards being a slow storage option amusing, as my phone runs really slow when it's getting close to filling up internal storage - so an SD card actually speeds things up.
I have adoptable storage but my internal memory is now full and I have at least 50GB free on my card. I think I'll go back to it being portable because at least I can set offline google maps, Google Drive, spotify etc to the SD card, whereas adoptable storage insists I don't have enough space to download any more maps or install more apps. It's the only reason I got a 16GB phone, because I thought a 64GB SD Card would be a better investment. No less than 32GB internal from now on!
