Help MDNS battery usage

Never saw this before but all the sudden today I have a service using the most battery % by the name of MDNSD. I've Googled the heck out of it and can't determine what this is for. Anyone else see this or know what it is?

Appears to be associated with Location services. Make sure that you are using High Accuracy in Settings > Location > Mode

You can also speed up and enhance your location, (saving battery drain), by following this guide...

I followed your steps but still not sure what this service does nor have I ever seen it running nor use battery in the 2 years I've had this phone...but thanks for the quick fix fix.

So I just saw this MDNSD as well. I have, on airplane trips, switched my location to less accuracy so I can map my position as I'm flying. However, I always switch it back to High Accuracy at the end of the flight, and it's been a few weeks since I last flew. Would appreciate if anyone has any ideas on this.

My culprit was Firefox Beta app. I searched high, low and even lower in the bowels of the interwebs. Google Firefox beta MDNSD and you'll see it. I simply uninstalled FF and MDNSD was gone. I now use Next Browser.
