media folder

Lurker
So under /mnt/sdcard I created a media folder. This folder consisted of pictures, video, and audio. Where I would store ringtones, pics etc..

Well since updating my incredible to 2.2 the folder has disappeared and media looks like a text file document. When I view it in file editor I still see pictures, video, and audio along with the other weird things like ?%b..

Did I lose everything when I upgraded or is something just wrong. When I mount my sdcard it's the same way I cannot physically get to anything. All my ringtones are gone now but are they lost forever?

Upgrading to 2.2 should not touch anything on your sd card. I would put the card into a card reader for your computer, or connect the phone with disk drive mode and check from there.

Those symptoms could occur if the card really was not mounted there at the time; linux will still create the subdir and store files there internally (if you have room). When the card was later mounted onto that location the copied files would be invisible as they would be hidden by the mounted partition (overlaid by the card).

I'd umount the card, remove it, and see if the /mnt/sdcard/media path reappears. If so that's what happened.
