How much data is consumed downloading a 2-hour movie with the 3G signal? I assume that using wifi to download is free.

That completely depends on how big the file is. Any app should tell you how big the files is before you start downloading. And how big the file is depends on a lot of things: resolution, codec, bitrate, container, audio tracks, etc.

So, I assume that if using my home wifi network there would not be any data download charges, other than the cost of buying/renting a video from media hub, or other media service?

And, just as a guestimate, how much data download usage would there be for a standard definition video that is 120 minutes long?

Correct, your carrier does not charge you to use your own wifi.

Again, that COMPLETELY depends on what codec, bitrate, resolution, container, audio, etc is used. I cannot guess as i dont know any of those. It could be anywhere from 100mb to 20gb. And again, whatever app you are using should tell you how big the file is before you download it.
